4 Top Benefits of Using Natural Wood Cutting Boards

If your kitchen is anything like ours, you've got a lot of appliances and gadgets. But there's one we always go back to - our cutting board. We are not sure what it is about this simple tool that makes us love it so much, but for some reason using a wood cutting board just feels more natural than plastic or metal ones. And these days we're all thinking more about our health and well-being, so why not make use of nature's best?

In this blog post we're giving 4 reasons to having a natural wood cutting board in your kitchen!

  1. These Boards Can Actually Protect Your Knives.  A natural wood cutting board is a great investment for any kitchen. They not only look beautiful, but they also add to the longevity and quality of your knives because they do not dull them like plastic boards can. The wood fibers break and leave a mark when you cut on a wood cutting board. This helps in preventing the fine edges of your knives from rolling and becoming dull.
  2. Wood Cutting Boards are Environmental Friendly. As mentioned, wood cutting boards can last for many years. They’re practical and they won’t need a replacement for a long period of time. They’re also renewable and biodegradable.
  3. They’re Easy to Clean. When done properly, wood cutting boards maintenance is easy. It’s important that you wash your Kitchen Strong board immediately after use. Hand washing is recommended and is a must. Wipe the cutting board with warm soapy water, rinse it with hot water only and wipe it dry with a clean dish towel. Then, it’s ready for storing. And remember, to maintain the natural beauty of your Kitchen Strong board, you must condition it.
  4. They stay put. One of the best things about wooden cutting boards is that they don't move or slide around while you're cutting. With plastic cutting boards this can be common and at times could cause injury.

I had no idea that utilizing a cutting board made of wood may increase the durability and quality of the blades. They don’t become dull like plastic boards may, as you said. Since our mother enjoys cooking in the kitchen, I think a wooden cutting board would be a great present for her birthday. My sister and I have been looking for ideas. I’ll be sure to tell her about it and look into suppliers of natural wood who might be able to assist us in getting one.
